Gray... short story.Screaming. The hard silver surface of my mirror is no more and the pieces lay fragile and shattered across the red carpet of my floor, reflecting in their shiny surface. The pattern of light that barely streams through closed blinds sends small rays of light off of them in different directions, one hitting my eyes. They snap shut.Gray... short story.
Why does it hurt so much? Everything hurts so much. Everything is so fuzzy, as if someone photoshopped me out and blurred everything else. My hands are clear, except for a small drop of crimson liquid that stains the outer edge of my thumb. Ow.

The soft clinking of my mother’s nails against the kitchen table are synced with my father’s clicking teeth as if they were in an orchestra; my mind is drifting and there’s nothing their symphony of sounds can do to stop it.

When did waiting get so hard? My little brother knocked over what was left of water in his small sippy cup, and a leak in its top lets the water fall to the floor at a sickeningly slow pace. I wonder if this could be a form of torture, my parents sitting there silent as stone
